The Best TV Dramas Of The 21st Century
There are not a lot of great TV programs around in modern times but the three television series I'm going to highlight below stand above other TV shows as three of the top series of the 21st century thus far.
The first series I want to mention is The Wire which was a HBO program which lasted for five seasons from 2002 through 2008. Each of those five seasons takes a look at the city of Baltimore, Maryland from a different perspective. It is a brilliant program not only as a series that pulls the viewer in (like the other two shows in you will find below I recall watching 3 or 4 episodes in in just one day) but also as a show that makes great points about the United States of America.
I don't want to get into what these points are, because I think the show itself makes them much better than I can in an article. But I will share that one of the things I really like about this show is how it really blurs the line between the "good guys" and the "bad guys." There are good and bad things about just about everyone.
The second show I want to recommend is actually the only one of the three that still has more new episodes to come and that is Dexter. This is a show that I didn't think I would like much when I first read about it so it did take some time before I finally watched it. I am very glad that I did. It's ended up right there among my favorite shows of all time. Yes, it's twisted (Dexter is a serial killer) but it's twisted in a very interesting way.
The third series I recommend as a great TV show of the 21st century is the one I have been most obsessed with lately and that is because the series just ended. You can now buy the complete series of Lost and that's really the way to go because Lost is a series that should be watched from beginning to end without skipping any episodes.
What I really love about Lost is that it is "one huge story" where each show is a valuable part of the whole and leads (in some way or another) into the next episode. Watch it from the beginning and don't read any spoilers.
